On this project

(Rules-of-the-Road)

- Polar mesospheric clouds (PMCs) or noctilucent clouds (NLCs) consist of water-ice particles, which can be produced in summer around the mesopause region, mainly at high latitudes. It is considered that the formation/loss of the water-ice particles is sensitive to mesospheric conditions which are the atmospheric temperature, the mixing ratio of water vapor, etc. Thus, observations of the PMCs/NLCs can be a useful diagnosis to understand dynamics as well as chemistry in the Earth’s mesosphere.

- We are working on PMC/NLC observation by the geostationary orbit satellite, Himawari, as a collaborative research project by University of Electro-Communications (UEC), Meiji University, and National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT). Data usage etc. in this website are limited only for non-commercial purpose (reserach and/or education purpose). Please note that we are not responsible for any detriment etc. resulting from data usage etc. In the case of research purpose, we recommend a research collaboarion with our group.
